π Tender Overview
The Toulouse Aerospace Express (TAE) Global Project will provide the Toulouse metropolitan area (4th in France and defined as an urban node of the core network) with a new 3rd metro line and an Airport Express Line by end of 2028. This innovative new metro line of 27 km and the 2 km airport express line will complete the existing network and propose a high capacity public transport offer. The Global Project will answer the important travel demand increase and will serve a zero¬-emission and sustainable mobility policy. Facing exceptional demographic growth, the transport network should absorb each year 50.000 additional daily travels expected in the metropolitan area, already largely congested. Toulouse Aerospace Express is aimed at significantly improving the access to business areas such as the European Airbus Group and at interconnecting the international Airport Toulouse-Blagnac (identified as a central node of the core network), and the Matabiau central rail station which will welcome the future high-speed line (LGV Bordeaux-Toulouse - TEN-T Atlantic Corridor). Estimated at 2,67 billion EUR, TAE is the most important public transport infrastructure investment in France after the Grand Paris Express project and is fully supported by national and local policy makers. The State Public Utility Declaration of the project was obtained in 2020. The design studies funded under CEF1 (Action 2015-FR-TM-0368-S) have been finalized in 2021. The project aims at drafting the pre-operational studies for the construction works namely: design adjustment and preparation of public consultations, diagnostics and studies prior to the preparatory works, design studies for the low voltage electricity systems, definition and design of the maintenance area of the 3rd metro line. These studies will enable preparatory works and civil engineering works to begin in the end of 2022. However, these works are not in the scope of this Grant Agreement.
