π Tender Overview
For several years now, we have been witnessing a gradual withdrawal of the younger segments of the population from democratic and political life. However, while the formal (or conventional) participation of young people is decreasing, there has been a visible increase in unconventional forms of participation. While young people are less likely to be involved in traditional forms of participation, 'alternative forms of participation' are taking over. The project focuses on exploring youth-led democratic movements around the world, youth organisations and their impact on democratic movements, the values of the EU, the need for young people to support democracy, and the possible consequences in case of lack of support. The project partnership consists of 6 partners (Spain, Bulgaria, Italy, Romania, Greece, Turkey) who share the common vision of contributing to the development of more open and democratic societies. All partners work with young people from different backgrounds. Although the theme and general idea are relevant for all partners, each of them also has specific needs that are relevant for their organisations and the target groups they work with. In particular, during the exchange, efforts will be made to raise young people's awareness and participation in democratic life, promoting European values and active participation, discussing traditional or alternative forms of democracy, improving knowledge about the EU and European citizenship and democratic movements, in order to stimulate young people's interest in democracy. Europe needs an active and aware youth population that feels part of the ongoing decision-making process, both nationally and internationally. The project therefore wants to make political and democratic youth activism fashionable again.
