π Tender Overview
Scope : To Set up Wellness Destination Centre, Eco-Cottages at Anjunem, Goa
The Goa government will set up its first wellness destination centre and eco cottages at Anjunem-Keri to promote hinterland tourism. The state government has accepted the proposal of Rane Construction for development, operations, and maintenance of the property.
The project is likely to be the first eco-tourism venture of the department after the Goa Tourism Policy, 2020, was released. The policy emphasises the need for nature-based tourism incorporating ecologically-sustainable and environmentally-sound practices. The policy also calls for high-quality facilities in protected areas to increase footfalls and duration of stay of tourists. So far, only private entities have set up the accommodation facilities in the hinterlands of Goa.
The Anjunem location is one of several properties owned by the tourism department. In 2014, the department had proposed the selection of an agency to operate, develop, finance, and manage the said property in the form of wayside facilities and tenders were invited. However, after detailed deliberations, the high-powered monitoring committee decided to scrap the said tender. The department, through the Goa Tourism Development Corporation, floated a tender for this property at Anjunem, Keri.
