Communities of the Earth is an NGO that works especially with rural women to generate economic income for their families through the implementation of sustainable projects. It is strategically allied with a social company (kiej de los Bosques) who are in charge of marketing the products produced by the rural companies that they incubate.
The project is fully aligned with the BIA guidelines, since it involves both socio-economic and environmental aspects. They focus on the transformation of the stem of the banana plant into textile fiber, thus being a totally natural product with high added value. It incorporates training, design and marketing components to have a sustainable impact over time.
