Scope :
Construction of:
76km of sewer network and interceptors;
Two pumping stations;
A nature-based sewage treatment plant including a faecal sludge treatment unit;
30 public sanitation facilities;
Household sanitation facilities for vulnerable members of the community.
The project aims to provide the people of Chimoio with access to improved sanitation services, reduce the incidence of water-borne diseases and decrease land and river pollution, while promoting the reuse of water and treated sludge for agricultural purposes.
Chimoio has a population of more than 400,000.
