📋 Tender Overview
The project addresses the upgrade of 1.4 km long section D1 01191.C Brno centrum – Brno jih located between km 194,560 – 196,000 on the Motorway D1 in Czechia. It covers the widening of the section from a four-lane dual carriageway to a six-lane dual carriageway as well as the upgrade of the bridge no. D1-233 over the railway line Brno – Breclav. It is part of a Global Project covering the upgrade of the motorway D1 (section Kývalka – Holubice) located on the Orient East-Med and Rhine-Danube Core Network Corridors. The capacity of the existing four-lane motorway section D1 01191.C Brno centrum – Brno jih is almost exhausted and the capacity of the existing bridge no. D1-233 over the railway line Brno – Breclav does not meet the load-bearing capacity requirements for both civilian freight transport and military movements. Due to insufficient capacity of the motorway section and inadequate technical parameters and deteriorated condition of the bridge, the section D1 01191.C Brno centrum – Brno jih represents a bottleneck on the motorway D1 which significantly limits the civilian and military mobility. More specifically, the project covers the widening of the section D1 01191.C Brno centrum – Brno jih built in 1976 and 1978 from the current four-lane dual carriageway (design category D26.5/120) to the six-lane dual carriageway (design category D 34.5/130). With the addition of a new lane for each direction and a median strip, the width of the section will increase from the current 26.5 meters to 34.5 meters. The project also includes the upgrade of the motorway bridge no. D1-233 over the railway line Brno – Breclav which consists of two separate bridges, one for each carriageway (the right bridge – D1-233.1 serving traffic towards Ostrava and the left bridge – D1-233.2 serving traffic towards Prague). The upgrade of the bridge will increase its load-bearing capacity to 180 tonnes and its width from 28.38 meters to 40.35 meters. The project also covers the relocation of public utility networks (gas, water, sewage) along the section of the Motorway D1 affected by the reconstruction works. Additional works also include the construction of a new drainage system, construction of 2 retention tanks, construction of 4 retaining walls, 6 noise barriers in the vicinity of residential buildings as well as landscaping and grassing. The project aims to adapt parts of the TEN-T for the dual use of the transport infrastructure with a view to improving both civilian and military mobility.
