Understanding And Predicting Pathogen Communities
Insight Into The Interaction Of Commensal And Pathogenic Bacteriain Many Species, Resident Or Commensal Microbes Influence Growth, Metabolism, And Immune System Function In The Host. Accumulating Evidence Indicates That These Commensal Bacteria Also Affect The Ability Of Pathogens To Invade And Proliferate Within The Host. To Further Delineate This Pathogen-Commensal Bacteria Interaction, The Eu-Funded Pathocom Project Will Use The Plant Arabidopsis Thaliana As A Model System. The Project Will Study The Simultaneous Interaction Of Different Commensal Bacteria And Pathogens Rather Than Focus On One-To-One Relationships. Experiments Will Provide Information On How These Interactions Impact The Composition And Structure Of Microbial Communities In Nature.
