PROJECT DESCRIPTION (DE)
Background:
Renewable energies (RE), a green hydrogen (GH2) economy, and efficiency technologies offer Algeria the opportunity for environmentally friendly economic development and green jobs. However, the country is still at the beginning of this transformation.
Goal:
The Algerian economy will increasingly utilize renewable energies, green hydrogen, and efficiency technologies. This will contribute to reducing carbon emissions and transforming the economy in a socially just and green way.
Approach:
The project comprises five areas of action:
1. It provides advice on RE tenders, optimization analyses, and RE grid integration with the state-owned energy provider Sonelgaz.
2. It promotes, among other things, medium-sized tenders for solar power plants and increases local RE revenues. It also collaborates with Algerian stakeholders to further develop the PV sector.
3. It implements, among other things, the GH2 strategy and analyzes production sites, market studies, and export models. The project also conducts studies for export to Germany and Europe.
4. It assesses the local use and applications of GH2 and the products derived from it. A university collaboration promotes master's programs, research, and teaching laboratories between four Algerian universities and the University of Rostock.
5. It focuses on energy efficiency strategies for institutions, companies, and public buildings, as well as the monitoring of natural gas production and transportation facilities.
In cooperation with RENAC β Renewables Academy, the project contributes to training decisi
