Scope:
The standing committee of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has sanctioned the proposed Swargate to Katraj Metro extension.
The extended 5.4 km underground Metro corridor will be completed by 2028.
A detailed project report (DPR) for the extension of the project was submitted. With this, the rail route has been extended till Katraj.
The standing committee has given its approval for allocating Rs 233 crore for the extension.
The project is expected to cost Rs 4,283 crore. The state government has allocated Rs 640 crore for Pune Metro project in the State Budget for FY21.
After getting the approval from PMC, it will be submitted to the state government and central government for final approval, As the central government had refused to take the burden of 20 per cent of the cost, ready to only take 10 per cent of the project cost, it is an added burden on the PMC and state government.
The total project cost is Rs3,668 crore and it is expected to be completed by April 2027.
