PROJECT DESCRIPTION (DE)
Initial situation:
Rapid urban growth in Ecuador is leading to social inequality, high resource consumption, and rising greenhouse gases in many places.
The country has therefore created a political framework. This includes the Ecuadorian Agenda for Sustainable Living Space (AHSE 2036). To implement the agenda, cities must align their actions more closely with national guidelines, develop sustainable projects, and thus improve their access to climate finance.
Objective:
National and local government institutions implement the AHSE 2036 and city-relevant climate protection contributions in a measurable manner.
- Approach:
The project supports national and local governments in improving access to climate finance. In addition, six pilot cities will receive support to plan measures for climate-friendly and social urban development and to more easily access climate finance. In addition, the project will use a measurement system to help record progress towards the AHSE 2036 and the national climate protection goals.
The project works in three areas:
- It promotes cooperation between cities on national urban development policy and mobilizes climate finance for economic revitalization (green recovery).
- It advises the cities of Ambato, Cuenca, Lago Agr
