Project summary
The "SAD" (Sustainable Food Systems) project in the provinces of Cibitoke and Kirundo, Burundi, contributes to the development of an inclusive Burundian society that is resilient to climate and socio-economic threats. Households, especially the most vulnerable, improve their food and nutritional security by contributing to a transformation of agri-food systems with greater respect for the environment.
The objectives of the project are: (1) increasing agricultural productivity and production, in a process of agroecological transition contributing to food security; (2) improving access to markets for family farms by establishing more competitive and inclusive value chains for young people and women; (3) improving the institutional ecosystem of sustainable food systems at the national and territorial levels.
