PROJECT DESCRIPTION (DE)
Initial situation: The Jordanian vocational training system lacks effective management, business-oriented training and continuing education, and equal access for both genders. To date, training has barely addressed ecologically sustainable economic development. Thus, the Jordanian vocational training system fails to fulfill its central function of developing skilled workers for broad-based and ecologically sustainable economic development.
Objective: The vocational training system in Jordan is improved in terms of management, labor market relevance, gender equality, and ecological sustainability.
Approach: The project enables public and private sector decision-makers to modernize the Jordanian vocational training system and its interfaces with the higher education system. Important aspects include labor market relevance, climate and environment ("green skills"), and gender equality.
To this end, the project advises Jordanian vocational training institutions on the following measures:
Establishing accreditation systems for training providers and programs
; systematically integrating the private sector, including financial mechanisms; and
incorporating environmentally relevant competencies into curricula and course content at selected model institutions.
The project also qualifies teaching staff at selected institutions. It supports them in making curricula more gender-equitable and raises awareness of the need to integrate girls and women in rural areas into education.
