Technical assistance :
The transactional technical assistance (ta) will assist nepal electricity authority (nea) and dudhkoshi jalvidyut company limited (djcl), a subsidiary of nea, to prepare the dudh koshi hydropower project and support the executing and implementing agencies during implementation of the project. a loan of $200 million of concessional ordinary capital resources (ocr), $350 million of regular ocr, and $20 million of asian development fund (adf) grant is proposed for this project. the ensuing loan and transaction ta is listed in the country operations business plan (cobp).
Given an expectation of ongoing domestic supply deficits during the dry (november-may) months and surpluses during the rest of the year, development of storage hydropower projects such as dudh koshi project (635 mw) and power trading with neighboring countries through the establishment of a dedicated power trading entity (nepal power trading company limited) and related legal reforms have been given high importance in the white paper.
the ta will support following sustainable development goals (sdgs): zero poverty (sdg 1); affordable and clean energy (sdg 7); and climate action (sdg 13). the transaction ta will help nea and djcl prepare the project, undertake studies and assessment, support due diligence, and develop the capacity to implement the ensuing project.
