PROJECT DESCRIPTION (DE)
Background:
Sexual health, family planning freedom, and future prospects for young women in Tanzania are severely limited. This is due to frequent teenage pregnancies, a lack of contraceptives, and an increased risk of sexually transmitted infections. Access to sexual and reproductive health services is limited in many areas. Cultural norms, taboos, and gender-based power imbalances particularly hinder young women from making informed decisions. Women with disabilities face additional physical, social, and institutional barriers to healthcare. A lack of expertise among healthcare professionals, insufficient education, and limited participation from communities and civil society organizations further complicate the prevention of illness and unwanted pregnancies, as well as ensuring high-quality healthcare for young women.
Objective:
The reproductive autonomy and health of young women and newborns are to be improved inclusively in selected regions of Tanzania.

It collaborates with the Tanzanian Ministry of Health and regional and local authorities to further develop standards of care and provide training for professionals and managers. Additionally, the project promotes coordination among representatives from the fields of health, education, and equality. To strengthen the self-determination of young people, the project supports information,
