·WAPP priority areas for power station and interconnector development to be considered by JICA based on the region’s long-term supply and demand forecast.
·WAPP Capacity Building Program Initiative (CBPI) to be updated to accommodate the latest training needs.
·Capacity of system operators to be enhanced through the development and implementation of regional training.
·Capacity of market operators to be enhanced through the development and implementation of regional training.
This project will contribute to the promotion of the stable use of clean and affordable electricity in West Africa through WAPP, whose secretariat is located in Benin, by providing 14 WAPP countries with member utilities to improve capacity building in regional system and market operations. Through these partnerships, the project will therefore also contribute to the achievement of SDGs Goals 7 (Affordable and clean energy), 13 (Climate action), and 17 (Partnerships for the goals).
