The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are goals that should be pursued by the entire international community, and Indonesia is an example of a country making a national effort to do that. However, as the world's largest archipelagic state, with a vast land area and comprising more than 17,000 islands, it is essential for Indonesia to strengthen its capacity to address, local challenges, as well as to involve non-state actors, especially local small and medium enterprises (SMEs), in its pursuit of the SDGs.
This project builds on a previous phase, namely the Project for Strengthening Framework of Implementation of SDGs, utilizing and disseminating its results to help further Indonesiaβs efforts to achieve the SDGs. Working with the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) and the SDGs National Secretariat as the main counterparts, this project will assist local governments in the strengthening of their policy planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation systems related to the SDGs, and will also promote multistakeholder partnership - an undertaking that demands vigilance.
