PROJECT DESCRIPTION (DE)
The Philippines is one of the countries most affected by climate change worldwide. Increasing damage from typhoons, rising sea levels, and heavy rainfall events are increasing poverty, triggering migration, and threatening the economy.
Preventive approaches to government disaster risk management are focused almost exclusively on "grey" infrastructure, and insurance solutions receive little attention. The project therefore aims to encourage national authorities and key stakeholders to use ecosystem-based adaptation and climate insurance to strengthen disaster risk management in the Philippines. The project builds on the efforts of the Philippine government to incorporate climate and disaster risks into planning processes. In particular, it utilizes and supports the Integrated Ecosystem Management (IEM) approach, which has already been introduced by some authorities as a basis for planning processes.
In addition to training measures, the project partners will receive support in process monitoring and the implementation of ecosystem-based adaptation measures. Furthermore, the project promotes market development for insurance products.
