PROJECT DESCRIPTION (DE)
Context
Violent conflicts, parallel administrations, and shifting power structures have deteriorated basic public services in Libya. Decentralized government has been enshrined in law since 2012. It is intended to give municipalities greater autonomy to improve services such as waste disposal and the management of public spaces. However, the government has already passed initial landmark regulations.
Objective
Selected municipalities in Libya implement decentralization in a citizen-friendly, efficient, and economically beneficial manner.

To this end, it particularly supports the national training institute, which expands the expertise of decision-makers in local governments. The project is also developing models for financing public services with partner municipalities.
It is also contributing to the pilot implementation of basic services, for example, by providing advice on waste disposal and the circular economy, and by establishing local development and training centers for women. Local economic development
