(a) Objective and Summary
The southern Chattogram region, in which comprehensive development, including that of important infrastructure, is proceeding according to the Bay of Bengal Industrial Growth Belt initiative, is expected to become a region that will drive the growth of Bangladesh in the future. In addition to the population increase due to the above regional development, the influx of displaced people from Rakhine State, Myanmar has also been adding to the population increase of the area. This project aims to improve the standard of living and the quality of life of local residents by developing public infrastructure, thereby advancing economic development and the redress of disparities.
Planned Implementation Schedule
1. Completion of project: April 2028 – when all subprojects are placed in service
2. Issuing of letters of invitation for consulting services (including detailed design work): April 2022(Already sent)
3. Tender announcement of initial procurement package for international competitive bidding on project construction: No procurement for construction is scheduled for this project
