Objective
The overall objective of the E-sMarTurban project is to decarbonise the public transport operations associated with the Sanchinarro and the La Elipa bus operational centres, and its electric bus fleet, located in the city of Madrid (ES), by installing the necessary infrastructure for electrifying its operations. Namely, the project encompasses the following main infrastructure deployment elements, at both bus depots:
- Deployment of Low, Medium and High-Voltage electrical installations to increase the bus depots electrical capacity
- Deployment of a distribution substation and High-Voltage transformers
- Deployment of recharging points (power modules) and connectors (pantographs)
- Deployment of solar photovoltaic panels installations, to provide renewable electricity to the bus depots
This equipment will contribute to reduce significantly fossil fuel usage by bus public transportation.
The coordinator of the E-sMarTurban project is Empresa Municipal de Transportes de Madrid (EMT ).
The project is part of the Madrid360 Environmental Strategy , aiming to make the city more sustainable and to decrease its CO2 emissions.
