PROJECT DESCRIPTION (DE)
SAIS β Silicon Valley for Africa
The "Scaling of digital agricultural innovations through start-ups" (SAIS) project supports selected African start-ups in the agricultural and food sector in scaling their digital innovations and thus reaching a larger number of users. The aim of the project is to improve the income of users in the agricultural and food sector through the dissemination of digital innovations.
Scaling requires the use of capital and this is exactly where SAIS comes in: The investment readiness of the start-ups is improved through tailor-made company development measures implemented by renowned venture builders. This increases the chances that the start-ups will receive the capital they need for scaling from investors or will be able to open up new markets through new business partners. SAIS thus adapts processes of existing innovation systems, e.g. B. Silicon Valley, and tries to adapt them to the African context.
The project comprises three areas of work ("fields of action") and will run for five years (January 2019 to December 2023). Field
of action 1: Identification, evaluation and selection of start-ups
