Scope : Development of Ropeway project from Govind Ghat-Ghangaria-Hemkund Sahib in Uttarakhand.
The scope of work includes development of ropeway project from Govind Ghat-Ghangaria-Hemkund Sahib on hybrid annuity mode (HAM).
On February 2023, G R Infraprojects has emerged as the L1 bidder for ropeway project in Uttarakhand, to be executed on hybrid annuity mode (HAM) basis.
The tender was floated by National Highways Logistics Management (NHLML). The proposed work pertains to the development, operation and maintenance of the stretch covering Govind Ghat-Ghangaria - Hemkund Sahib in Uttarakhand.
The construction period is 48 months for project. The operations will extend for 15 years from the commercial operation date.
On June 2022, The work on the ropeway project, Govind Ghat to Hemkund Sahib will begin soon. The detailed project report (DPR) for the project has been prepared. The Govind Ghat-Hemkund Sahib project will cost Rs 850 crore and its length will be 12.5 km. Under the Govindghat-Hemkund Sahib ropeway project, 27.4782 ha of forest land is to be transferred to the state government.
Project has been cleared by the State Wildlife Board and have been sent to the National Wildlife Board for approval.
On January 2022, The National Highway Logistics Management has invited bids for a ropeway project in Uttarakhand.
The Centre has made religious pitch in poll-bound Uttarakhand by inviting tender for building ambitious ropeway project to Hemkund Sahib. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on January invited bids from private parties to build, maintain and operate a ropeway project from Govind Ghat to Hemkund Sahib via Ghangaria in Uttarakhand.
The Govind Ghat-Hemkund Sahib project will take just 30 minutes for pilgrims to reach both the shrines by ropeways. Preparation is underway to build a ropeway to facilitate a visit to Hemkund Sahib ji. The bid will open in March. The ropeway project is expected to be affordable options for the common man to reach this pilgrimage site. Hemkund Sahib is a sacred place for the Sikhs.
Under the Narendra Modi government, project got fresh impetus and the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for ropeway was commissioned last year and the NHAI was assigned the job to execute them. It could take up to three years to construct the ropeway. The authority (NHAI) has decided to carry out the bidding process for selection of a private entity as the Bidder to whom the Project may be awarded.
