Project Summary
The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and energy systems is fundamentally transforming urban landscapes, presenting the APEC region with unprecedented opportunities and structural challenges. This project focuses on the deep application of AI in urban energy systems, examining evolutionary trends, key drivers, and practical applications in key areas such as urban grid dispatch and renewable forecasting, identifying technical and regulatory gaps. The project will extract best practices and innovative business models from representative cities to propose actionable pathways for urban green transitions. A special chapter on China, the 2026 APEC host, reviews its strategic planning for "AI + Energy , highlights its strategic advancements in computing-power synergy, energy-specific AI models, and smart paradigms like virtual power plants and vehicle-to-grid. The project seeks to share scalable solutions and foster regional cooperation, thereby accelerating the clean, sustainable, equitable, affordable, and inclusive energy transition in the APEC region.
