π Tender Overview
Objectives
Read with MEE advances key literacy skills & equitable educational opportunities for multilingual children (2-6 y/o), especially those belonging to a national/regional/migrant/refugee minority, by inclusion of their linguistic skills in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC). It addresses a gap in inclusive multilingual literacy development and aims to: increase knowledge; support implementation in ECEC and at home; develop positive attitudes towards linguistic diversity and home languages.
Activities
Activities and results are based on research, real needs & co-creation. To do so, a Scientific Council and participants (from min 40 organisations, e.g. ECEC centres, literacy/home language organisations, experts in literacy development/multilingualism, & family members) are involved. Each WP encompasses either roundtable discussions, workshops, or online events to increase knowledge (WP2), hone skills (WP3), apply knowledge and skills (WP4), and co-create the results.
Impact
The results support inclusive & equitable learning opportunities in ECEC:
Knowledge: Handbook-INC: Inclusive Multiliteracy Development for All, with e.g. criteria & checklist, based on Scientific Council & ECEC needs assessment
Skills: videos to explain concepts & show best practices; online library with inclusive, multilingual books; community platform; referatory
Application: an interactive multilingual serious game with a universal story to promote early inclusive multiliteracy development
