Objective
Heart failure (HF) remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in Europe, while clinical outcomes are constrained by slow, fragmented and insufficiently mechanistic translation of scientific advances into practice. RAPTOR-HF addresses this challenge by establishing an autonomous Centre of Excellence (CoE) for clinically driven translational HF research at Wroclaw Medical University, fully aligned with the objectives of the Teaming for Excellence action. The project aims to build sustainable research and innovation capacity in a widening country through institutional transformation, long-term strategic partnerships and the integration of scientific, clinical and organisational excellence within a single operational structure. RAPTOR-HF will implement a rapid bedside-to-bench-to-bedside translational model in which unmet clinical needs directly drive discovery, validation and application, enabling mechanism-based, endotype-driven precision medicine approaches in HF. The Centre will conduct clinically embedded translational studies supported by certified biobanking, multi-omics integration, AI-supported analytics, harmonised clinical registries and advanced data management, operationalised through the FAST framework to accelerate decision-making and shorten time to clinically relevant outcomes. The CoE will be developed through a long-term partnership with CharitΓ© UniversitΓ€tsmedizin Berlin and the University of Oxford, ensuring systematic transfer of best practices in translational research, governance and talent development. RAPTOR-HF will deliver durable structural change by establishing EU-grade governance, Open Science and FAIR data practices, strengthening institutional autonomy, enhancing international competitiveness, and positioning the Centre as a national reference point for rapid, mechanism-driven translation in cardiovascular research.
