Project description
The PRONORD-PAOP project will run for a period of 4 years, from 2024 to 2028, and is implemented by Enabel, the Belgian Development Agency, with funding from the European Union. It is in line with the efforts made since 2020, within the framework of the PAOP I and PAOP-CRI projects. The latter aimed to improve the living conditions of the populations by participating in the creation of a safer environment.
Project details and impacts
The project aims to support the Republican Police in northern Benin to meet the country's priorities in terms of community policing. The aim is to support the operationalization of this police force by strengthening social cohesion, i.e. the bonds of trust and collaboration, particularly between the police, its partners and the population, while responding to current security challenges. The project is based on the five principles of the "PRIOR" model defined by the Beninese authorities and focuses on three objectives: community policing, crisis management and human resources management.
