Background:
Vietnam requires significant investments in electricity generation and grid expansion to keep pace with rising demand. At the same time, the country is striving to meet international climate protection commitments and achieve energy security.
As a result, Vietnam is increasingly relying on renewable energies. Particularly in solar energy, rapid expansion has been possible in recent years due to short-term support measures. However, there is still a need for long-term planning for the development of the electricity sector. Furthermore, the social and economic impacts of electrification must be considered, which has been neglected in energy policy decisions to date.
