PROJECT DESCRIPTION (DE)
Initial situation
Crises and conflicts are affecting the economy and employment of young people in Togo. Togo's private sector has great potential to create jobs and prosperity, but is unable to fully exploit this potential due to structural difficulties such as a lack of financing, weak supply chains and difficult market access. This represents a competitive disadvantage, particularly for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the agricultural and food sector.
Objective
The competitiveness of the Togolese private sector is improved.
Approach
The project supports public and private structures that advise and support MSMEs. It operates in five fields of action:
•Improving supply chains: It supports MSMEs and their supplier networks in improving their supply chains and promotes food security.
•Making financial services accessible: It promotes assistance for financing MSMEs and makes financial services accessible.
•Facilitating access to international markets: It expands services to give MSMEs better visibility and long-term access to international markets.
•Promoting sustainable investments: It supports the establishment of the National Investment Promotion Agency (API-ZF) and the economic networking of Togolese MSMEs with large foreign companies.
•Improving conditions: It supports the expansion of a national public-private dialogue to better involve the private sector in government reforms.
The project is co-financed by Germany and the European Union (EU).
