Objective
PELAGOS (p??a???) will deliver a basin-scale, dynamic cumulative impact assessment (CIA) framework for offshore wind (OW), operationalised via the interoperable aiSEA digital platform. It advances CIA from static mapping to time-resolved, lifecycle-aware decision support by integrating harmonised multi-sensor monitoring, AI-based modelling, and nature-inclusive mitigation. The platform introduces seasonal pressure layers, project-phase dynamics, and MSP/MSFD-aligned indicators, covering the full lifecycle—including the first real-world decommissioning data (DemoSATH), port, and nearshore impacts.
Comparative assessments across the Atlantic, North Sea, and Mediterranean basins will tailor monitoring and mitigation to regional contexts. A plug-and-play observatory toolbox (e.g. hydrophones, eDNA, drones, cameras) will quantify key pressures, while an advanced bird-collision detection sensor will improve above-water impact tracking. Mitigation solutions—including NID prototypes—will be field-validated and embedded into scenario modelling for cumulative trade-off analysis.
Socio-ecological indicators will feed into decision tools for site selection, impact mitigation, and circular planning. Fully interoperable with EMODnet, DTO and IEA Wind TCP, the platform enables transparent, evidence-based planning and supports sustainable, circular, and publicly accepted OW deployment across EU seas.
