Description
The project is the first allocation under framework loan 2018-0045. It includes the acquisition of 10 dual-mode diesel/electric railcars, the renovation of part of the existing fleet of electric and dual-mode rolling stock (95 units) used for regional passenger transport services in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France, as well as the construction of a new maintenance workshop on the site of PΓ©rigueux station.
Objectives
The project will have positive effects on the environment by improving sustainable daily mobility, particularly the performance of rail transport compared to other modes, and by incorporating technologies that improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions at source. By promoting the development of rail transport and public mobility, the project contributes to reducing the use of private cars, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, pollution and noise, and opening up rural areas, thus strengthening territorial cohesion and equal access to opportunities (education, employment and public services) and improving road safety by promoting a modal shift towards safer modes of public transport.
