π Tender Overview
Scope :
Located in National Capital in Papua New Guinea, the Papua LNG liquefaction terminal is owned by TotalEnergies, Exxon Mobil, Santos, and others and will be operated by Total E&P PNG, once it becomes operational in 2027.
The Papua LNG liquefaction terminal will source gas from the following fields -Elk-Antelope (Papua LNG) and PNG LNG project
With two trains, Papua terminal will have an initial LNG production capacity of 5.6Mtpa (million tons per annum).
During the period 2021-2025, the Papua liquefaction plant is expected to witness an estimated capex of $1,728m.
Following pre-FEED studies, the partners have selected a concept including four electrical LNG trains (e-trains) with a total capacity of four million tonnes per year that will be built within the existing liquefaction plant of PNG LNG in Caution Bay.
The project is expected to have a liquefaction capacity of up to six million tonnes of LNG per annum with the first production anticipated by the end of 2027 or early 2028. According to the partners, integrating the Papua LNG midstream development within PNG LNG maximises the value of both projects and delivers increased capital efficiency by reducing upfront capital expenditure and maximising integration synergies. Furthermore, selecting e-trains and re-injection of reservoir CO2 is expected to reduce the carbon intensity of the project.
Costs will be refined during the FEED phase and the project participants intend to explore project finance opportunities for a portion of the project cost.
