The project in brief
Background The increasing reliance on Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) in humanitarian aid has transformed the sector, making up over 23% of global humanitarian spending in 2023, with potential growth to 30-50%. Additionally, the growing protracted nature of crises necessitates better linkage and complementarity between humanitarian cash and national social protection systems. The adoption of the IASC-endorsed cash coordination model emphasizes the need for enhanced inter-agency collaboration and localized leadership. These developments continue to challenge and stretch the limits of the current humanitarian system. While progress has been made, significant gaps remain in neutral operational capacity, mentorship, and integration with national social protection systems. CashCap addresses these deficits through its impartial, demand-driven, and context-specific approach.
Objectives Strengthen coordination and technical capacity for CVA in contexts, where CashCap capacity is utilized, with specific focus on local leadership in the response.
Target groups All humanitarian practitioners, development actors, donors, the private sector, host governments.
Medium-term outcomes hrough CashCap expertsβ effort, local, national, humanitarian and development actorsβ capacity to design, implement and coordinate cash and market-based response is enhanced. Where deployed, CashCap expertsβ work contributes to:
