ScopeSolidarity Transport Hub or Central Port of CommunicationTransport Polish Centralny Port Komunikacyjny CPK is a megaproject of the Government of Poland aimed at the construction of a new built-from-scratch airport which will be located approximately 40 kilometres 25 mi southwest of Warsaw and is planned to replace Warsaw Chopin Airport. The planned launch of the port is 2027. At the beginning the airport is to have two runways and ultimately four. The port will initially have a capacity of 40 million passengers per year and ultimately 100 million passengers. Planned train connections will take 15 minutes to Warsaw Central railway station 25 minutes to Ldz Fabryczna railway station and 2 hours to most other major Polish cities such as Krakw Wroclaw Poznan and Gdansk.The CPK project is first and foremost an enormous new airport. After the first phase of the construction the airport is designed to handle up to 45 million passengers annually. The planned expansions would ultimately allow for traffic of 100 million passengers. Worlds largest airport in Atlanta USA handles 107 million passengers a year. first flights from the new airport are planned for 2027 or 2028. The CPK will be located about 40 kilometers from Warsaw city center and about 80 from the center of Ldz Polands third largest city. The new hub will replace Warsaws current Chopin International airport located within the city limits just 7 kilometers from the city center. Asked what will happen to Chopin International after the construction of CPK Mr Horala said that an analysis of the situation will be available in June. CPK will also include a railway station and a nearby railway junction. Hundreds of kilometers of railways are to be modernised or build in order to allow Poles from all over the country to access an easy connection to the airport. Plan calls for a railway link between CPK and Warsaw taking just 15 minutes while between CPK and Ldz 25 minutes. Additions to a nearby highway will also be constructed. Government estimates the project will cost between PLN 309 bn EUR 7.1 bn and PLN 349 EUR 8 bn.
