Scope: To Set up 1000 MW Naying Hydropower Project at Naying in Shi-Yomi district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Hydropower project is in the pipeline in Shi-Yomi district of Arunachal Pradesh. This project to be set up in place would be executed by the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO), a government of India enterprise.
CM Pema Khandu have challenges in terms of difficult terrains and topography. They need to convert these challenges into resources and hydropower is one way of doing it. The hydropower project will be set up at Naying with capacity of 1000 MW. The project would be executed by NEEPCO, replacing private agencies engaged earlier.
Naying is a 1,000MW hydro power project. It is planned on Siyom river/basin in Arunachal Pradesh, India. According to GlobalData, who tracks and profiles over 170,000 power plants worldwide, the project is currently at the permitting stage. It will be developed in a single phase. The project construction is likely to commence in 2026 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2030.
The project is being developed by Naying DSC Power. DSC and Government of Arunachal Pradesh are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 89% and 11% respectively.
Naying is a run-of-river project. The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 82 million cubic meter. The gross head and net head of the project will be 285m and 245m respectively. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, is expected to be 2 in number. The penstock length will be 300m. The penstock diameter will be 7m. The project is expected to generate 4,966.77 GWh of electricity.
The hydro power project consists of 4 turbines, each with 250MW nameplate capacity. The project has 4 electric generators that will be installed at the project site.
