π Tender Overview
Scope : To Set up Namami Goda Project in Nashik, Maharashtra
The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has finally appointed a project management consultant to start the work to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Godavari rejuvenation and beautification under the Namami Goda project.
The civic body had finalized a consultant for the ambitious Namami Goda project after the standing committee approval, but it could not issue work order to the consultant as the model code of conduct was in place for the Nashik Graduate constituency elections.
Now that the elections are over, the civic administration has asked the consultant to complete the DPR within six months, which would be sent to the Centre through the state government for final approval.
The Namami Goda project is estimated to cost around Rs 1,800 crore and NMC has set the deadline to clean the river before the Kumbha Mela 2027. The effluents are released from many places into the nullahs and tributaries that join the Godavari river. This makes the river polluted.
Hence, the NMC has planned to make all the nullahs in the city straighter, wider and deeper. The consultant will prepare a DPR, which will include repairs, re-modification and widening of 67 nullahs and three tributaries, which link the city with the river.
The project also includes the construction of two new Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) at Makhmalabad and Kamathwada. The officials are expecting the project to be implemented before the next Kumbh Mela to be held in 2027.
