The state govt has announced plans to construct new sewage treatment plant (STP) aimed at reducing pollution in the Bagjola and Kestopur canals, which eventually discharge into the Hooghly river.
The South Dum Dum Municipality has proposed a 27 MLD at sewage treatment plant (STP) at Prafullakanan. However, this proposed project is currently entangled in land acquisition issues and is expected to take up to two years to complete.
