Project to be implemented by the government under an economic policy or social policy for the general benefit of the state as stipulated in the Tourism Act and the minimum investment required by contractors.
By investing in aviation facilities, the Maldives aims to facilitate smoother travel, stimulate tourism and bolster economic development. This strategic initiative aims to improve access to air connectivity for citizens, businesses and tourists by expanding and modernizing airport infrastructure. The government's policy is to develop a domestic airport within 30 minutes of every residential island, resort or industrial island.
The government is keen on expediting airport development in different locations to be completed within the next 2-3 years.
