Scope :
The Marina and Mile 2 interchanges are part of the implementation of the first phase of the US$356.4 million Lagos State Strategic Transport Masterplan Project 1, which is being supported by French development agency AFD. The agency is providing a total of US$42 million for the interchange projects.
The multimodal interchanges will facilitate the integration of four public transport modes - light rail transit (LRT), bus rapid transit (BRT), passenger waterways transportation routes, and, in the case of Mile 2 only, state and interstate bus routes.
The AFD financing will support the construction of infrastructure specifically required for the intermodal operation of the interchanges, such as buildings, equipment, passenger information and signage, correspondence rooms, pedestrian transfer between modes and access to the interchanges, a bus hub and commercial areas.
The cost of civil works and equipment for the Marina interchange is estimated at US$22.1 million and for Mile 2, US$12.9 million.
Marina and Mile 2 sites have been selected due to their centrality.
