Lyon Turin Ferroviaire LTF a joint venture of Rseau Ferr de France RFF and Rete Ferroviaria Italiana RFI are undertaking the construction of the high-speed railway line from Lyon in France to Turin in Italy.The project involves the construction of a 257km high-speed railway line 180km in France 77km in Italy is planned to be implemented in phases. In January 2001 Franco-Italian Inter governments signed an agreement to develop the project and in October 2001 Lyon-Turin Ferroviaire LTF a joint subsidiary of Rseau Ferr de France RFF and Rete Ferroviaria Italiana RFI was formed for the project implementation. The first phase Mont dAmbin Tunnel of the project involves the construction of a 57km base tunnel through the mountains between Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne in France and Susa in Italy to connect the border regions. It includes the construction of three access tunnels called Villarodin-Bourget 4000m La Praz 2480m and Saint-Martin-la-Porte 2400m at France side and one access and safety tunnel called Maddalena 7541m at Italy side railway lines and the installation of security systems electrical systems lighting systems and other related facilities.
