Scope :
Kokcha is a 445MW hydro power project. It is planned on Kokcha river/basin in Takhar, Afghanistan. It will be developed in a single phase. The project construction is likely to commence in 2026 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2029.
Description
The project is currently owned by Ministry of Energy and Water, Afghanistan.
The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 1,815.853 million cubic meter. The net head of the project will be 143m. The penstock diameter will be 4.4m. The project is expected to generate 1,756 GWh of electricity.
The hydro power project consists of 5 turbines, each with 89MW nameplate capacity.
Development status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2026. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2029.
