📋 Tender Overview
Scope: development of a 425-km Kochi-Kanyakumari-Thoothukudi natural gas pipeline. The project aims to boost energy infrastructure in southern India and link Petronet LNG Ltd.’s Kochi LNG terminal with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.’s Ennore -Thoothukudi pipeline.
The pipeline will have an initial capacity of 6.0 MMSCMD under Regulation 5 of PNGRB’s 2008 Regulations. It is expected to improve natural gas access for underserved regions in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, particularly benefiting City Gas Distribution (CGD) entities.
The project is part of a broader effort to increase natural gas’s share of India’s energy mix from 6% to 15% by 2030. It is also expected to support the completion of the national gas grid, with PNGRB having already authorized 33,475 km of natural gas pipelines, 24,921 km of which are operational.
