PROJECT DESCRIPTION (DE)
The GV Knowledge Center for Organic Farming and Agroecology aims to promote organic farming and agroecology as holistic approaches for a sustainable transformation of agricultural and food systems in Africa. The dissemination of agroecological approaches and practices requires a deep understanding of ecological, social, and economic interrelationships and extensive knowledge. Civil society actors are the pioneers of organic farming and agroecology in Africa. However, to date, these actors have neither sufficient capacity nor context-appropriate knowledge in adapted formats to efficiently disseminate this knowledge and systematically incorporate it into training and continuing education, practical implementation, and policy and strategy development at the national and regional levels (core problem).
The module objective of the GV is to strengthen the actors of the knowledge hubs and their networks in the regions of Eastern and Southern Africa, as well as in West, North, and Central Africa, in their role in promoting organic farming and agroecology.
The project operates in four fields of action: 1) Improving access to validated technical and methodological knowledge for the promotion of organic farming and agroecology for stakeholders in knowledge hubs and their network
