Project Summary
Policymakers from APECβs Economic Committee (EC) and APECβs Group on Services (GOS) have a common interest in the structural reform process which brings together policy and regulatory intervention (both at the border and behind-the-border in domestic settings) affecting services competitiveness.
In June 2021, the EC was tasked by Ministers at the Structural Reform Ministers Meeting (SRMM) to coordinate the implementation of the Enhanced APEC Agenda for Structural Reform (EAASR) including structural reform efforts in the services sector for the period of 2021-2025. Separately, the mid-term review of the APEC Services Competitiveness Roadmap (ASCR), endorsed by Ministers in the joint AMM statement in November 2021, prioritized activities to make services regulation and policy reform a central focus of APECβs structural reform agenda.
Building on the success of βJoint EC and GOS Symposium on Services and Structural Reformβ (EC-GOS 01 2022S), this project will assist officials, academics and industry in formulating, prioritizing and implementing services structural reform. This will be done including through events (in-person and/or virtually). The project will complement and strengthen the implementation of EAASR and the ASCR and will encourage economies to take advantage of existing APEC structural reform capacity building sub-funds.
