Objective
"INSIGHT (INtelligent Supply chain resIlience: Governance, Humans and Technology) addresses the critical need to transition traditional supply chains (SCs) from a focus on lean efficiency to systemic resilience and viability in response to global geopolitical and environmental shocks. Specifically, the project investigates how the deployment of data-driven and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies can enhance SC resilience while harmoniously integrating with the human workforce.
The consortium is a transnational and intersectoral partnership comprising five academic institutions and four non-academic partners. The academic partners encompass leading international experts in Management, Industrial Engineering, and Computer Science. Industrial partners include AI/ICT solution developers and major industrial associations to ensure proof-of-concept validation. The core Research and Innovation Objectives (RIOs) are:
- RIO1 (Human & Cognitive): Designing organizational strategies to develop digital mindsets and adaptive skills, preventing workforce de-skilling, and managing the agency reversal caused by AI-driven automation.
- RIO2 (Process & Visibility): Developing multidimensional frameworks for End-to-End (E2E) visibility that quantify the marginal value of information while mitigating system nervousness in multi-tier networks.
- RIO3 (Technology & Trust): Investigating ""glass-box"" (explainable) AI and leveraging synthetic data augmentation to ensure robust decision-making in data-scarce and non-stationary industrial environments.
These RIOs are translated into scientific Work Packages (WPs), for which a detailed intersectoral, interdisciplinary secondment plan and research tasks have been designed. Management, dissemination, and follow-up activities are considered in additional WPs aimed at maximizing scientific, industrial, and societal impact and ensuring that the expertise generated in the project is embedded permanently within the consortium."
