π Tender Overview
The EU, in cooperation with the European Investment Bank (EIB), has pledged to finance Moroccoβs post-earthquake reconstruction program to the tune of one billion euros over five years, with the EU guaranteeing the loan.
Currently under appraisal, the loan may be used to rebuild schools, roads, and hospitals, including climate-resilient and sustainable infrastructure. The EUβs assistance will be implemented in the form of budget support and will support specific objectives. Notably, support will be provided to those affected by the earthquake, especially through the rehabilitation or reconstruction of housing.
The aid is also meant to help resume public services, particularly in the areas of health and education. In addition, it will support the revival and dynamism of economic activity and territorial cohesion in the earthquake-affected areas.
This 177 million euro program will be supplemented by other sources of funding as part of a larger support package β total value EUR 225 million β designed to assist reconstruction efforts
