PROJECT DESCRIPTION (DE)
Context: More than three million refugees live in Turkey, the majority of whom originate from Syria. Despite its efforts, the country faces challenges in providing social services to refugees and disadvantaged groups in host communities. The devastating earthquakes in 2023 and the tense economic situation have exacerbated the situation. Disadvantaged groups, especially single mothers, children, and people with disabilities, are particularly hard hit. The
political upheaval in Syria in 2024 will have a major impact on the situation of Syrian refugees. However, a large proportion of Syrians will remain in Turkey for several years and will be dependent on support.
Objective: The personal, social, and economic resilience of refugees and disadvantaged groups in Turkish host communities is improved.
Approach:
The project improves access to social services through the establishment of a civil society network (Akran Destek Agi, ADA TΓΌrkiye). Within the network, experienced Turkish organizations support smaller, local initiatives in hard-to-reach communities to ensure the availability and quality of social services. The project complements this mentoring with specialist training.
By combining humanitarian aid with the structural integration of social services, the project implements the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus (HDP-Nexus) approach.
The project's areas of action are:
β’ It improves protection and access to social services.
β’ It improves extracurricular education.
β’ It promotes social cohesion.
β’ It strengthens structures for social services and crisis management.
