PROJECT DESCRIPTION (DE)
Background:
Internal migration has long existed in Madagascar. However, in recent years, frequent climate disasters, combined with inadequate infrastructure and security problems, have further worsened living conditions in the south. As a result, more and more people are forced to migrate to other regions to earn a living. This development poses significant challenges for the receiving regions in the west and north of the country: they require more natural resources, which carries the risk of social conflict. Furthermore, national policies do not yet offer viable solutions for regulating internal migration. This hinders coordinated action in the receiving regions, including the Boeny region.
The management of internal migration related to climate change in the Boeny region has improved.
The project pursues various measures to achieve its objectives:
β’ Promoting social cohesion and mutual respect: This is achieved through dialogue, awareness-raising, conflict management and prevention, as well as participatory planning.
β’ Improve the living conditions of the local population: This includes managing access to land for housing and agriculture and adapting agriculture to climate change. Income-generating measures will also be implemented, with a particular focus on women and young people.
β’ Provide technical and organizational advice in the Boeny region: This will support the development of a strategy that addresses issues such as gender, climate, and biod
