π Tender Overview
Scope of Work:
Construction of 65-MW Hybrid Power Station at Mt Weld Mine in Western Australia.
Description:
Zenith Energy has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Lynas Rare Earths Ltd to construct and operate a 65-MW hybrid renewable and traditional fuel energy setup at the Mt Weld Mine in Western Australia. The project will include a 24-MW wind farm, a 7-MW solar photovoltaic plant, a battery energy storage system, and a gas-fired plant with standby diesel generation. The new facilities are expected to be completed by the first half of 2025, with full operation anticipated in 2026. The Mt Weld Power Station aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by transitioning from a legacy diesel power plant to a hybrid renewable power station. The 15-year PPA will commence with the commercial operation of the wind farm in 2026, with the station expected to achieve an average annual renewables share of up to 70%.
