ScopeStage 2 of the Hurstbridge Line Upgrade will see a further upgrade of the Hurstbridge line following completion of Stage 1.In August 2018 as part of its election campaign the Victorian Government announced it would deliver Stage 2 of the Upgrade.Stage 2 will comprise construction of a new station at Greensborough along with duplication of 4.5 kilometres of track between Greensborough and Montmorency 3 kilometres and Diamond Creek and Wattle Glen 1.5 kilometres.The project is included under the broader Hurstbridge Line capacity project which Infrastructure Australia identifies as a Priority Initiative in its Infrastructure Priority List.The 2019-20 Victorian Budget committed 530 million to the Hurstbridge Line Duplication Stage 2. Of the total amount 21.5 million has been allocated over the forward estimates. This allocation will be used to progress project development detailed design and pre-construction activities. The Government previously indicated construction would start in 2020.
