Objective
"FIBA Europe, as the basketball governing body in Europe, has been investing a lot of resources in the development of youth over the last years, becoming one of the biggest assets for the international federation. Through the Youth Development Program, FIBA Europe would like to introduce to all NFs the possibility of participating in this innovative school program: ""Hoops 4 Schools"".
The main goal of the H4S project is to encourage kids and youngsters from all over Europe to participate in a multi-dimensional 360° basketball program targeting primary schools and to raise awareness about the benefits of physical activity.
To maximize the impact, H4S will make use of the new technologies and implement a gamification approach. Together with NBN23, the tech partner, H4S is creating a digital framework to help FIBA Europe measure the actions and engagement of the federations and schools involved in the project.
All school resources will be digitalized and utilize the game of basketball as a vehicle to encourage children to develop their mental, physical and social skills. The H4S program will be implemented through 2 pillars:
•""Discover Basketball"" - Learning and understanding the fundamentals of basketball through fun and engaging game-based activities.
•""Basketball 4 Good"" - Educating on social values like inclusion, diversity, equality and sustainability.
The FIBA Foundation, as the social and legacy arm of FIBA, will help develop the school resources showcasing the diverse Basketball For Good actions organized globally.
Schools and PE teachers participating in the program will receive a set of digitalized tools introduced thanks to user-friendly platforms to facilitate accessibility to the resources. These new tools will help NFs and schools to develop structured and sustainable programs linked to their national curriculum.
H4S will open a new era for FIBA; it presents an excellent opportunity to build bridges among the community and attract new players."
